My husband and I met when we were twelve and fourteen years old, in
middle school, and we still live in the same Central New Jersey town we grew up
in. We have been married for almost twenty five years now, and we have three
amazing children; PJ (Paul the 4th) is twenty-three, Lys is
nineteen, and Dani Rose is fifteen. PJ is off on his own now, and Lys is away
at college most of the year, so it’s just Dani, Paul, me, our nutty dog Colby,
and our three equally nutty cats Sunny, Mikey & Sebastian, at home.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember, but it
wasn’t until one incredible college professor, that I had enough courage to
share my writing. Well, if I’m honest, the college professor inspired me to
keep writing, but the courage to share didn’t happen until I was almost forty.
Now, even though I still get heart palpitations every time I have to submit a
new novel for review, I find the courage to hit that dreaded “send” button.
I am a romance writer, both historical and contemporary. My
historical romance novels are a series, and are not your typical romance
novels. The main characters are part of a covert British service group, so the
books contain a lot of mystery, suspense, and action, as well as romance. They
also lean slightly toward the “steamy” side.
On the other hand, I dub my
contemporary romance novels as “sex lite”. It’s hard to say which type of
novels I enjoy writing more. I love learning all they history behind my
historical novels, but honestly, I find writing the sex scenes quite painful
because I am a “visual writer”, which means I actually see the scenes play out
before my eyes and I write about them. Needless to say, the intimate scenes are
a bit embarrassing for me to watch. In my contemporary novels, the sex is
implied, so that is infinitely easier on my sensibilities, however, I only have
to do a minimal amount of research. (In the modern day, I know what food we
eat, what furniture we have, what modes of transportation we use, what phrasing
we use when we speak, and what events are happening at the time.)
